3...2...1...Happy New Year! 🔆 I’ll be hones 3...2...1...Happy New Year!

🔆 I’ll be honest, I stayed up until 10:00pm and that was pushing it.

🔆 This was the first year in a really long time that I didn’t stay awake for the countdown and I’m not sorry about it. No champagne, no hats, no party horns, no kiss, no kidding!

🔆 A lot of people are talking and posting that 2020 was so horrible (MOSTLY agree) and that 2021 will make everything better (hopeful).

🔆 I have high high hopes (for a living 🎶) for this year and I’m excited to see how God works in this crazy-pandemicky-mask-wearing-politicky-panicky-reset-needed world.

🔆 My new year’s resolution is to stay safe & healthy. That’s super boring isn’t it?! 🤦🏻‍♀️

🔆 Do you have a resolution? Do share! Also, add mine to your list ❤️
New exciting things to come for 2021! 🔆 I’m New exciting things to come for 2021!

🔆 I’m not only excited for 2021 and the hope that there might be a vaccine and this new year could end this virus and bring peace to people.

🔆 I’m also excited because of my own growth & my family’s growth spiritually and mentally. We started memorizing a Bible verse together, carving out more time to read God’s word, read more children’s Bible stories, and pray at times we wouldn’t normally pray.

🔆 We’re being more intentional about living a Christ-centered life rather than just saying we are or acting like we are.

🔆 We’re starting to make real changes and that’s very exciting!

🔆 Will we slip back and go days without reading scripture again? Will we not “have enough time” to pray during certain situations? I’m sure this will happen because we’re human but we’ll work everyday to make intentional Christ-centered decisions.

🔆 I’m always thankful for a new year and a fresh start.

➕➕➕➕➕➕➕let’s do this➕➕➕➕➕➕
Merry Christmas fellow person! Jesus was born & st Merry Christmas fellow person! Jesus was born & still lives! 👑

“So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. When they had seen Him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.” Luke 2:16-20

Every year I get caught up in the gifts. Every year, it never fails. It starts out well-intentioned, I see something in November that reminds me of someone or I think of something my husband would like.

🎁I find things I hope will make people say, “she thought about me.”

🎁All of a sudden it’s mid-December and I’m scrolling through Amazon, making sure I have something for everyone. How do I tell the difference between generosity and just-giving-because-I-have-to-give.

🎁No one in my family is demanding and everyone always acts very grateful for the gifts I give. Side note—I’m not a great gift giver 😬 I used to be a lot worse so I’m getting better but yikes, it’s hard for some people!

🎁This Christmas we gave gifts intentionally. We gave gifts to the people we are closest to and didn’t fuss about mailing gifts or giving to our third cousin’s uncle’s friend’s kids.

🎁No matter how much I try to be present at Christmas time, it’s still difficult. I still think about toys, games, groceries, stocking stuffers, and meal-prepping. I do this because I love my family. God gave me a beautiful family and it brings me joy to see them smiling, opening presents, eating good food, and being surprised.

➕ “And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.” Matthew 1:21
I’m laying in bed, in the dark and the verse of I’m laying in bed, in the dark and the verse of the day that pops up on @biblegateway is lyrics to an old song and I immediately start singing in my head.

🔆Your love, Lord, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies. Your righteousness is like the highest mountains, your justice like the great deep. Psalm 36:5-6

🔆This song by Third Day still gets played on my local Christian radio station - yes radio still exists and yes I still listen to it - don’t you?! Shout out to @wcsgradio thank you for putting out the most uplifting content!

🔆The Bible can be very overwhelming. It’s so long, there’s so much history, different interpretations, reading plans, and sometimes the genealogy can get confusing with the Hezron who begot Ram who begot Amminadab who begot other fellow persons.

🔆In college, our church had the idea to read through the entire Bible without stopping. Everyone took 15-20 minute shifts, and read each word of The Word. There was a tent setup right in the heart of town, off campus on a sidewalk where so many students lived. There were fraternity and sorority houses, groups of friends renting houses, coffee shops, and book stores. A microphone was setup—not obnoxiously loud, just so people could hear—and it was recorded. I showed up early to my shift with my friends and when it came time for me to read, it was all the begots. I believe it was one of the books of Kings and there was a lot of history and names I struggled with like Adonijah and Jehoiada. I had been looking forward to reading but I stumbled through and didn’t get anything out of it. I reflected later that every word in the Bible was chosen for a reason.

🔆I don’t know the backstories on some of these men and women, but I’m grateful for their history because it leads to the stories that teach and inspire. That makes the readings like “Hezron who begot Ram who begot Amminadab” so worth it.

🔆How priceless is your unfailing love, O God! People take refuge in the shadow of your wings. For with you is the fountain of life; in your light we see light. Psalm 36:7-9
Happy Thanksgiving fellow person! I hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving fellow person! I hope you had a wonderful day with good food and loved ones, whether it was in person or FaceTime or Zoom or phone or teleportation.

🧡 To me, Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on my blessings. In my lifegroup at my college church, we talked about having Thanksgiving every week. Every single week my lifegroup leader would talk about thanking God for what we have. As a college student, most of us had nothing. I had nothing and I still had so much. I had a dorm room, a job, friends, a twelve-year-old Buick named Betty, and a lot of great Goodwill t-shirts and sweatpants I tried to pass off as gym clothes that I actually wore to class.

🧡 I remember my lifegroup leader talking about this verse in the Psalms about being thankful. We would often go around the circle of girls and say our prayer and our blessing for the week. It reminded me to always be grateful, not just when life was easy or fun or during a holiday.

🧡 “Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song.” Psalm 95:1-2

🧡 I’m thankful for this life. Even the parts I hate—disciplining my son, writing reports at work, putting away laundry, or carrying heavy things up a flight of stairs. Life is challenging sometimes and it’s okay to say it, even at thanksgiving time. I just always try to follow up with a shout to the Rock of my salvation.
Happy Veteran’s Day to my amazing hardworking hu Happy Veteran’s Day to my amazing hardworking husband. Throw back to this sweet pic, I can’t get enough of them!

Thank you to all men and women who serve in our country’s military, I love and respect you more than you know.

Land of the free BECAUSE of the brave.
Push through when it gets hard! Push through when Push through when it gets hard! Push through when you’re discouraged and you feel low and unproductive! Well, first make some tea and popcorn, THEN push through.

🔆My sweet four-year-old son was upset today because he wasn’t winning at a game of memory. Remember that game - so fun right?! He said he was mad that he couldn’t find any matches at first.

🔆Of course, as a therapist in my natural habitat, I congratulated him on expressing his feelings. “I can see you’re mad, thank you for telling me that, I’m proud of you.”

🔆I followed up with a quick lesson on being a spoiled sport and that didn’t go over very well. When I told him he could pick my cards on my turn, he came back to rational child for a moment. He picked my cards, he started getting matches, and we finished the game.

🔆Don’t expect instant gratification 😣😣

🔆That’s hard to say but you won’t get views on your website at first. You won’t get clicks or downloads or emails from new readers and customers.

🔆If you put in the time and push through, you’ll generate systems that reach more people. You’ll create products that more people need. You’ll produce more opportunities for others to benefit from your product, advice, courses, or information.
